PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hessu Hopo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Travis Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Hopo might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Bodies. Reed has chosen Bitkit - Explode as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Conviction

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hessu Hopo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Travis Reed!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reed misses with a kick to the body.
Reed takes a swing at Hopo's ribcage but misses.
Reed looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Hopo closes the distance and clinches.
Hopo is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Hopo jumps into guard, dragging Reed to the mat.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Hopo has his hands on Reed's head, controlling the position.
Hopo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Hopo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Reed gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Hopo manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hopo lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Reed working to try and regain half guard.
Hopo throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Reed because Hopo loaded up on that one.
Hopo cracks Reed with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Hopo working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Hopo is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Reed can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Reed wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Hopo.
Hopo landing punches.
Reed really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hopo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hopo throwing strikes here but Reed is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Reed tries to lock up and control but Hopo gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Hopo punching from mount but Reed doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Hopo throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Poor strikes thrown by Hopo there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hopo goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Reed is on top in guard.

Hopo working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Reed has passed into half guard!

Hopo has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Reed. Oh but Hopo has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Reed goes limp - he's gone! Hopo jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
