PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Russell Belcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nate MacRally (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). MacRally has chosen Red Rider - Lunatic Fringe as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Russell Belcher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nate MacRally!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacRally avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
MacRally shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Belcher throws an uppercut from half a mile away. MacRally sees it coming and avoids it easily.
MacRally will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Belcher lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Belcher misses with a straight right.
MacRally steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Belcher.
MacRally avoids the body shot from Belcher.
MacRally misses with a few strikes there.
MacRally slips under a jab from Belcher.
Belcher throws a hook but MacRally avoids it easily.
Belcher misses with an uppercut.
MacRally gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Belcher.
Belcher fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
MacRally gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Belcher cracks MacRally with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Belcher is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

and MacRally decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Belcher's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Belcher throws a hook but MacRally blocks it.

MacRally doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
MacRally ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Belcher connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Belcher scores with a one two! MacRally had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
MacRally moves away from the strike by Belcher.
MacRally rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Belcher moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
MacRally tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Belcher paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Belcher walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
MacRally ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
No joy there for MacRally, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

MacRally moves out of range of the strikes.
MacRally wants to clinch up but Belcher keeps it at a distance.

MacRally tests Belcher's chin there with a solid looking shot.
MacRally slips a straight right by Belcher.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Belcher swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Belcher works the jab nicely.

MacRally fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Belcher to the ground. MacRally is now in Belcher's guard.
Belcher is pulling down on MacRally's head to control his posture.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
MacRally stands up over Belcher, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Russell Belcher will probably get the nod.

MacRally takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

MacRally slips under a jab from Belcher.
MacRally's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Belcher connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! MacRally scrambles back to his feet.
Belcher shoots in looking for a takedown. MacRally tries to sprawl out of it but Belcher keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. MacRally manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Belcher throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

MacRally moves in looking to clinch but Belcher pushes him off.

Belcher throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck MacRally on the side of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

MacRally lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Belcher circles away quickly and effectively.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Belcher, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
