Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Arthur Bertholf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddie Chavo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chavo has chosen Rico Sauva by Girardo as his entrance music. Arthur Bertholf has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Arthur Bertholf!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eddie Chavo!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bertholf swinging wildly here.
Bertholf connects with a right hand. Chavo shakes it off.
Bertholf lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Bertholf.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
No joy there for Bertholf, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Bertholf connects with a crisp jab.
Bertholf thuds a left hand into Chavo's body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Bertholf lands a left and a right that send Chavo crashing to the mat, dazed. Bertholf thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Chavo is rocked!
Chavo is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Chavo is still on wobbly legs! Can Bertholf finish him?
Bertholf lands an overhand right.

Bertholf drops Chavo with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Chavo looks back up at him and smiles so Bertholf waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Bertholf rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Chavo moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Chavo seems to have recovered his senses.

Chavo clinches.
Chavo tries for a takedown. No joy.
Bertholf prevents a takedown attempt there.

Arthur Bertholf has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eddie Chavo.
Chavo is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Bertholf is defending well.
Bertholf really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Chavo tries to work over Bertholf's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Chavo goes for a takedown in the clinch but Bertholf prevents it.
Chavo is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Bertholf pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Chavo is trying to pull guard but Bertholf turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Chavo is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Bertholf.
Arthur Bertholf seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chavo is looking to clinch but Bertholf is avoiding it.
Bertholf tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Chavo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Bertholf looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Chavo shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bertholf napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bertholf tries to bench press Chavo off him but Chavo keeps the position.
Bertholf is breathing heavily.
Chavo working the ground and pound but Bertholf is defending the strikes.

Chavo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bertholf knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Chavo decides to stand back up. Chavo steps back and let's Bertholf get back to his feet.
Bertholf throws out a loose jab but Chavo uses good head movement to avoid it.
Chavo shoots in for a double leg but Bertholf sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Some wild striking there from Bertholf.
Chavo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bertholf sprawls well. Bertholf wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Chavo gets slowly back to his feet.
Bertholf throws a lazy right hand but Chavo sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Bertholf defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Chavo.
Bertholf misses with a series of wild punches.

Bertholf tries to sprawl but Chavo drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Chavo throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Chavo is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Chavo is nestled in close to Bertholf, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Chavo misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Chavo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Chavo clinches.
Chavo wants to take the fight to the mat but Bertholf manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Arthur Bertholf dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Chavo has managed to clinch.
Bertholf stops a takedown attempt from Chavo.
Bertholf is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Chavo can't get the takedown.

Bertholf breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Chavo has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Bertholf is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Arthur Bertholf has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eddie Chavo.
Chavo keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Bertholf's efforts to push away.

Chavo jumps into guard, dragging Bertholf to the mat.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Chavo can do anything to dispel that myth.
Bertholf wants to stand but Chavo has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Bertholf stays in close to Chavo's body and controls the position.
Bertholf will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Chavo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Bertholf tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Chavo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Chavo shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Chavo was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
BOOM! Chavo connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Chavo can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bertholf is looking to escape.
Chavo landing strikes from the mount and Bertholf is in trouble!
Chavo lands a big shot there that rocks Bertholf but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Chavo is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Bertholf can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Bertholf knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Chavo on the ground.

Bertholf has left one of his arms exposed and Chavo doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Bertholf screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Eddie Chavo!
A very excited looking Eddie Chavo rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
