The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Soni checks a leg kick.
Soni throws a push kick but Alves slaps the foot to one side.
Alves swats away the attempt to clinch by Soni.
Alves throws a head kick that misses.
Soni takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
A slapping leg kick lands for Soni.
Alves lands with a thumping leg kick.
Soni blocks the body kick.
Alves misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Soni shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Alves as he avoids it easily.
Soni throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Soni motions for Alves to come forward. Soni throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Soni shoots in for a takedown but Alves shows good takedown defense.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Soni tries to land a front kick but Alves steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Soni takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

It looks like Tanishk Soni has been cut.
Nice defenses there by Soni.
Soni shoots in for a takedown but Alves shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Goncalo Alves has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tanishk Soni.
Soni has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Soni swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Soni drives through and clinches with Alves against the cage.
Alves tries to pull guard but Soni won't allow it.

Soni throws an overhand right that lands on Alves's shoulder, as Alves tries to avoid the shot.

Soni tries to clinch there but Alves circles away.
Soni tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Alves paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Alves throws a push kick but Soni slaps the foot to one side.
Alves lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Soni at a distance.

Soni gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Alves regains guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Soni slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
