Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ninja Kid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Perko Late (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kid might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Stratovarius - Hunting High and Low. Late is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: No Easy Way Out . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kid changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Kid throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Late was covering up waiting for the punch and Kid finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Late is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kid fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Kid shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Late pinned against the cage. Late gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Kid shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Late but Late pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Late connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Kid is looking to chop away at Late's legs.
Late dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Kid. That did some damage!
Late tries to clinch but Kid is having none of it.
Late moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Kid throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kid throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

A left and a right from Late both land. Nice combination.
Late thows a body shot but no joy.
Kid tries to score a power double leg takedown but Late sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kid somewhat.
Late throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kid is looking to score with low kicks.
Late punishes Kid's body with a nice straight punch.
Kid swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kid gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Late makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Kid drops his hands momentarily and Late takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Late thuds his right hand into Kid's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Late pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Kid back to the cage. Late follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Kid throws a low kick, looking for Late's leg but Late calmly moves out of range.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kid tries to bench press Late off him but Late keeps the position.

Late tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Late has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The ground and pound from Late seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Late is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Late looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kid with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Late seems to be working for a kimura but Kid defends the submission attempt.

Late stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Kid has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Late finds it's way round the side to connect with Kid's head.

and Kid counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Kid looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Kid feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well Late has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
