The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bennet cracks Thompson with a right hand to the side of the head.
Bennet throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Thompson forces Bennet back against the ropes and clinches.

Thompson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Hunter Thompson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bennet slips a jab and a cross from Thompson.
Thompson tries to clinch up but Bennet circles away and keeps his distance.
Thompson shoots in looking for a takedown but Bennet manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Thompson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Bennet tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Thompson's elbow.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Thompson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bennet pinned against the ropes. Bennet gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Thompson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bennet is just riding it out for now. Thompson eventually gives up the hold.
