Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Diogo Pinto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joao Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pinto comes to the cage accompanied by Do you really want to hurt me. Alves has chosen Carl Orff - Carmina Burana - André Rieu's version as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Edson Gomes and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Pinto on the side of the head.
It looks like Diogo Pinto has been cut.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Pinto.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Pinto is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Alves wants to control but Pinto postures up.
Pinto throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Alves works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pinto winds up and cracks Alves with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Alves has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pinto is working away from the top position though.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Pinto enables Alves to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Pinto manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Pinto decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
