The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marie II misses with a head kick.
Marie II throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
No luck for De Noteboom with that takedown attempt.
De Noteboom misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Marie II.
De Noteboom works Marie II's body with a nice hook.
Marie II tries a head kick but it misses.
De Noteboom displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Marie II.

De Noteboom is trying to control the action in half guard but Marie II is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

De Noteboom has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
De Noteboom is stalling here. Marie II is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! De Noteboom seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Marie II has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
