The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

It looks like Piero Vischi has been cut.
Vischi fails in his attempt to clinch.
Smith throws a jab but it's blocked by Vischi.
Piero Vischi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Vischi lands a big head kick that sends Smith tumbling to the mat! Vischi takes a step backwards and waves Smith back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like John Smith has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Vischi moves out of range of the leg kick from Smith.
Vischi jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Smith throws a sloppy head kick and Vischi moves out of range easily.
Vischi avoids the body shot from Smith.

and Smith counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Smith connects with a body shot that sends Vischi's belly button to the back.
Smith misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Smith lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Smith thows a body shot but no joy.
Smith takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Smith dodges the punch combination from Vischi.
A looping hook to the body misses from Vischi. Smith does a little dance to reset his feet.
Smith tries to clinch there but Vischi circles away.
Vischi misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Smith.
Smith lands with a good body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smith pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Vischi dodges the punch combination from Smith.
A jab from Smith finds it's way through Vischi's defenses.
Vischi takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Vischi closes the distance and pushes Smith back into the cage.
Smith lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Smith can't find room to land a body shot as Vischi controls the action.

Vischi manages to break the clinch.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Vischi keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Vischi tries to clinch there but Smith circles away.
Smith checks the leg kick.
Nice takedown defense from Vischi. No joy for Smith on that attempt.
Vischi closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Smith darts in and clinches Vischi up against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Smith swings wildly with an uppercut but Vischi uses good head movement to avoid it.
Vischi misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Vischi swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Vischi blocks an uppercut.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Vischi.
Vischi misses with a body punch.
Vischi lands a shoulder strike.
Smith lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Smith misses with a punch to the body.
Vischi working some nice short punches in the clinch.

Smith is rocked!
Vischi is leaning against Smith and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Smith is still on wobbly legs! Can Vischi finish him?

Vischi working the clinch nicely. Smith is working for position but Vischi cracks him with a big knee to the head! Smith crumples up against the cage and Vischi lands two more shots before the ref can save Smith! This one is all over!
