Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jermaine Howard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Ervin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ervin has chosen 3 Seconds to Freedom by Pop Evil as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jermaine Howard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Marcus Ervin!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Dillan Fox.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ervin lands a head kick!
Ervin shoots in for a double leg but Howard sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Ervin tries for a takedown but Howard sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

and Ervin counters with a single leg into guard. Howard didn't expect that.
Ervin chips away with some ground and pound.

Howard escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ervin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Howard has control of Ervin's left arm, preventing Ervin from doing any damage.

Ervin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ervin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Howard is trying to control the position but Ervin postures up.
Howard avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Ervin tries to free his leg and advance position but Howard is retaining full guard.

Ervin trying to control but Howard is working from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Howard tries for a takedown but Ervin circles away easily

and Ervin counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Howard's guard now.
Howard looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Howard is breathing heavily.

Ervin is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Howard is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Howard has escaped and now he's on top!
Ervin is trying to keep Howard in close.
Howard pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ervin is keeping the position for now.
Ervin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Howard is looking for a sweep. Ervin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Howard is staying active underneath Ervin, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Howard gets back to full guard.
Ervin not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Ervin wants to pass the guard but Howard is keeping the position.
Ervin trying to control the position from guard on top but Howard is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Howard pushes a forearm under Ervin's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Ervin is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
