Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Adamus Kapalka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricardo Ortiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Adamus Kapalka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ricardo Ortiz!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Dean Styles and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ortiz drives through and clinches with Kapalka against the cage.

Ortiz changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Kapalka fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Kapalka looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ortiz is fending him off so far but Kapalka persists. Nope, Ortiz circles away and we're back to standing.

Ortiz rushes Kapalka and presses him up against the cage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Adamus Kapalka.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Kapalka lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Ortiz misses with a kick to the body
and Kapalka counters with a left and a right that stings Ortiz.
Ortiz tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Kapalka counters with a one-two to the body.
Kapalka fails to land with a series of punches.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Ortiz has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kapalka uses from the top position.
Kapalka throws and elbow that misses. Ortiz uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kapalka's guard. Nice move by Ortiz!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kapalka accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Kapalka decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Ricardo Ortiz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Kapalka lands with a nice combination. Ortiz backs away looking to recover.

Kapalka is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Ortiz is defending well for now.
Kapalka has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Ortiz after a bit of a struggle.
Ortiz gets through Kapalka's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Kapalka keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ortiz's efforts to push away.

Ortiz has closed the distance and engaged Kapalka in a clinch.
Kapalka looking to throw knees to the head but Ortiz is blocking nicely.
Kapalka has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Ortiz tries to work over Kapalka's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Ortiz manages to break the clinch.
Ortiz shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kapalka sprawls well. Kapalka wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ortiz gets slowly back to his feet.

Adamus Kapalka has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ricardo Ortiz is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Adamus Kapalka.
Well Ortiz has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
