Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between TJ Cobra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, TJ Cobra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Jones!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Cobra counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Jones wants to stand but Cobra is controlling the position.
Jones is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Cobra slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Cobra seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jones for as long as he can get away with.
Cobra stops Jones from standing up.
Cobra stands and throws Jones's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Jones tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Cobra really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Jones.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones is trying to stand back up.
Jones looks gassed!
Cobra controls the action.
Cobra's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Cobra loading up with punches from the back mount - how long can Jones hold on?
Cobra has good solid back control here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Jones holding both Cobra 's hands and preventing any damage.

We're going to have a standup here because TJ Cobra wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Jones gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

so Cobra counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cobra controlling from the top position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cobra forces his way into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cobra uses his free foot to push down on Jones's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jones.
Cobra tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

We're going to have a standup here because TJ Cobra wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Jones has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Jones there as he acknowledges the shot.


Jones is rocked!
Jones glances at the clock... BAM! Cobra nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Jones crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Jones is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). TJ Cobra!
