Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Elmer Ray!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Terry Tate!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Ray with that takedown attempt.
Ray with a poor takedown
and Tate counters with a slapping leg kick.
Tate throws a leg kick but Ray sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Ray throws a big shot that misses.
Tate with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Ray avoids a kick to the body.
Tate misses with a body shot.
Tate throws a leg kick but Ray moved away.
Tate will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Ray tries to clinch up.
Tate throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Ray changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Tate tries to avoid it but Ray manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Tate to the ground. Tate escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Ray takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

and Tate counters with a nice leg kick.

Tate throws a nice outside leg kick.
Ray walks forward, straight into a front kick from Tate.
A chopping leg kick lands by Tate.
Nice defenses there by Tate.
Tate connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Tate lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Ray gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ray shoots in for a double leg but Tate sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Tate drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Tate fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Ray checks it well.

Terry Tate is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Ray counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

and Tate makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Ray throws a right hand that misses
and Tate makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Ray really felt that one!
Ray misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Elmer Ray seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tate fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Ray.
Ray closes this distance looking for a takedown but Tate circles away.
Ray takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Tate will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Ray shoots in looking for a takedown. Tate tries to sprawl out of it but Ray keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tate manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Well Tate has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
