The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Denis avoids the head kick by Hooker.
Hooker scoring well with a low kick there.
Alf Hooker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hooker shoots for a double leg takedown but Denis sprawls well. He's pushed Hooker's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Hooker gets caught flat footed, as Denis shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Hooker is working an open guard so Denis takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

and Denis counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hooker pushes a forearm under Denis's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Denis is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
