PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ryosuke Takahashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luis Fernado A (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryosuke Takahashi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Luis Fernado A!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yuuki Gou and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takahashi fails with a takedown attempt.
Fernado A misses with a takedown attempt

and Takahashi counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Fernado A is trying to control but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Takahashi is taking a breather. Fernado A says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Takahashi is looking to advance position but Fernado A won't allow it.
Fernado A trying to control from the bottom.

Takahashi is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fernado A is looking for a sweep. Takahashi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Takahashi is working for a submission of some sort.
Fernado A really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Takahashi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Fernado A gets back to full guard.
Takahashi wants to control from the top but Fernado A keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Takahashi drops back looking for a leg! Fernado A is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Fernado A manages to kick Takahashi off! Takahashi jumps back into Fernado A's guard.

Takahashi is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Takahashi is breathing heavily.

Takahashi postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Fernado A is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Takahashi, into his guard.
Fernado A wants to stand but Takahashi is controlling his posture from full guard.
Fernado A is stalling in the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Fernado A trying to control but Takahashi is working from the bottom.
Fernado A is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Fernado A wants to pass the guard but Takahashi is keeping the position.
Fernado A wants to stand but Takahashi has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Fernado A pushes Takahashi up against the cage in a clinch.
Fernado A is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Fernado A breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fernado A gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Takahashi counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Takahashi.
Takahashi looking to pass the guard.
Fernado A manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Takahashi manages to get himself to full guard.
Fernado A wants to stand but Takahashi is controlling his posture from full guard.
Fernado A must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Fernado A stopping the sweep attempt from Takahashi.
Fernado A trying to control but Takahashi is working from the bottom.
Takahashi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Takahashi throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Fernado A is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Takahashi is looking to sinch up a triangle. Fernado A throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Takahashi's body to avoid the submission. Takahashi has instead reached around Fernado A's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Takahashi arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Ryosuke Takahashi!
