Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between James Lower (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Squall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, James Lower!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pete Squall!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Johanna Lukiainen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lower fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Squall, pushing him back against the cage.

Squall pulls guard effortlessly.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Squall keeping moving, preventing Lower from controlling successfully.
Squall managing to control the position.
Squall is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Lower trying to control the position from guard on top but Squall is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

James Lower has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Lower closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Squall quickly recovers to half guard.

Lower missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lower wants to pass to mount but Squall is defending the position.

Lower stands up out of the half guard.
Squall is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Lower shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Squall's guard.

Squall pushes Lower off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Lower avoids a punch combination nicely.

Squall looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lower is trying to get back to full guard.
Squall is keen to just control but Lower is a slippery customer.

Pete Squall has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Lower will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
A punch combination from Squall misses.
Lower wants to clinch.
A nice inside leg kick there by Squall. That's going to slow Lower down.
Lower stuffs the takedown attempt from Squall. Squall gets slowly back to his feet.
Nice body punch from Squall.
Squall scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Squall throws a right hand that Lower ducks under and follows up with a left that Lower also avoids with ease.
Squall looks gassed!
Lower misses with a double jab.

Lower shoots in and bounces Squall off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Lower is looking to stand up but Squall won't let him.
Squall wants to stand but Lower is controlling the position.
Squall seems keen to control Lower's posture.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Squall wants to get back to his feet but Lower is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Pete Squall will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Squall fails with a takedown attempt.
Squall tries to clinch up but Lower circles away and keeps his distance.
Lower takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Lower shoots in and bounces Squall off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Squall has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Lower off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Pete Squall seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Squall shoots in and drives through. Lower sprawls well.

Lower closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Squall's guard.
Squall is breathing heavily.
Lower stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Squall swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Lower controls from within his opponent's guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because James Lower just wasn't active enough.
Lower dives in and grabs Squall's left leg, looking for a takedown. Squall pushes down on Lower's head and hops out.
Squall misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
James Lower has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pete Squall.
Squall closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lower circles away.
Nice takedown defense from Lower. No joy for Squall on that attempt.

Lower fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Squall to the ground. Lower is now in Squall's guard.

Squall is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Lower stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Squall swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Lower has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The ref stands the fighters back up. James Lower wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Squall is trying hard to land a takedown here. Lower sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Squall avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lower stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Squall swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Squall is trying to control the position from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Lower dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Squall wants to clinch up but Lower keeps it at a distance.
James Lower is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Squall fails with a takedown attempt.

Lower shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Lower is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Lower content to stall in guard here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lower stands up over Squall, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Lower trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Squall is on top in guard.

Lower working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Squall doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Squall manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Lower is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Squall is aware though and is defending well.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Pete Squall wasn't active enough on the ground.
Lower blocks a head kick by Squall.
Squall fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lower fails with a takedown attempt.
Lower shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Squall as he jumps to the side.
Squall lands a two punch combo.
Squall takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Squall misses with the combination.
Squall shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lower pinned against the cage. Lower gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Squall throws a head kick but Lower moves out of range.
Squall throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Lower misses with a wild body shot.

Lower rushes Squall and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Squall prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Lower. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Squall has Lower pressed against the cage, preventing Lower from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Lower is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

And that's the end of the fight!
James Lower showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Lower has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
