Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jason Potnoir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ngo Quyen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Quyen's choice of entrance music: NGÔ QUYỀN. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jason Potnoir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ngo Quyen!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Ben Zyskovitsi and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quyen sizes up Potnoir with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Quyen gets tackled into the ropes by Potnoir. Potnoir maintains the clinch.
Potnoir has had enough of the clinch but Quyen keeps him there for the moment.
Potnoir on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Potnoir using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Quyen has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Potnoir wants to get back to striking at distance but Quyen won't allow it.
Quyen lands with a left to the head.
Potnoir is trying to break the clinch but Quyen is controlling him.
Quyen tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Still in the clinch, Quyen scores with a nice short uppercut.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Potnoir.
Quyen has a couple of punches blocked by Potnoir.

Potnoir breaks the clinch.
Potnoir takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Potnoir lands a head kick that stumbles Quyen and the fighters go to the mat.


Quyen is rocked!


It looks like Ngo Quyen has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Potnoir stands and throws Quyen's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Quyen is still in real trouble! Can Potnoir finish him?
Potnoir trying to control the action but Quyen is working from the bottom.
Quyen tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Potnoir wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Quyen seems to have recovered his senses.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Quyen is not content to let Potnoir control the position.
Quyen sneaks back into half guard.
Potnoir wants to pass the guard but Quyen is defending well.
It looks like Potnoir is going to stand back up.

Quyen moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Potnoir wants to control from the top but Quyen keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jason Potnoir.
Quyen connects with a right hand. Potnoir shakes it off.
Potnoir throws a head kick that misses.
Quyen avoids the head kick by Potnoir.
Potnoir takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Potnoir misses with a two punch combination.
Quyen throws a one two combo.
Potnoir moves in looking to clinch but Quyen pushes him off.
Jason Potnoir seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Potnoir throws a right and a left that both miss.
Potnoir fails with an attempt to clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Quyen fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Potnoir looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Quyen scores with a nice head shot.

Potnoir takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Quyen swats away the attempt to clinch by Potnoir.

Quyen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Potnoir is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Quyen is controlling him.
Potnoir is breathing heavily.
Quyen throwing strikes but missing.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Quyen accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Quyen trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Quyen in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Quyen working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Quyen postures up in Potnoir's guard and throws a big left but Potnoir blocks it.

Quyen is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Quyen is working Potnoir over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Quyen forces his way into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Potnoir keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Potnoir wants to get back to full guard.
Quyen throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ngo Quyen will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Ngo Quyen's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Quyen throws a combination. Potnoir tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Potnoir takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Potnoir tries to clinch there but Quyen circles away.
Potnoir misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Potnoir swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Quyen feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Potnoirs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Quyen blocks a head kick by Potnoir.
Quyen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Potnoir throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Quyen sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Quyen closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Potnoir quickly recovers to half guard.
Quyen prevents Potnoir from standing back up.
Quyen thows a huge punch but Potnoir dodges it nicely.
Ground and pound from Quyen.
Potnoir avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Quyen.
Potnoir regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Quyen.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Quyen slips nicely into half guard.
Potnoir keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Quyen throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Quyen lands a nice short elbow.

Ngo Quyen has got the better of the ground game so far.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Quyen scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Quyen is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Quyen thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Potnoir's head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Quyen is pressing down on Potnoir's thigh, looking to free his foot. Potnoir is holding on for now.

Quyen is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Quyen not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Quyen looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Potnoir with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.


Potnoir is rocked!
Quyen lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Potnoir! More strikes land and this one is all over! Quyen jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ngo Quyen!
Ngo Quyen took to the microphone after his victory and thanked his sponsors, Crashforce Nutrition (Authentic 160Q/159Q supps!) for their support in the buildup to the fight.
