Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clooten looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Desmarais scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Clooten is rocked!

It looks like Matt Clooten has been cut.

Clooten rushes Desmarais and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Clooten has had enough of the clinch but Desmarais keeps him there for the moment.
Desmarais scores with a knee to the head.

Clooten breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Desmarais sizes up Clooten with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Clooten is still on wobbly legs! Can Desmarais finish him?
Desmarais waves his right hand out infront of him, looking to distract Clooten. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Clooten to the canvas! Can he finish him!?

Clooten is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Clooten wants to sweep but no luck.
Desmarais stays in close to Clooten's body and controls the position.
Clooten seems to have recovered his senses.
Desmarais pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Clooten is keeping the position for now.
Desmarais prevents Clooten from getting back to his feet.

Desmarais would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Clooten is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Desmarais stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Clooten swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Desmarais changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Desmarais tries to bum rush Clooten with a series of wild strikes but Clooten uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Desmarais throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Marquis Desmarais is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Desmarais closes the distance but Clooten moves to the side

and Clooten counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Clooten is keen to just control but Desmarais is a slippery customer.
Clooten looks gassed!

Clooten wants to free his trapped foot but Desmarais is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Desmarais tries to kick Clooten off but Clooten keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Desmarais tries to roll over but Clooten keeps him under control.
Desmarais keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Desmarais regains full guard. Nicely done.
Clooten working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Desmarais lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Nice sprawl there from Desmarais as Clooten shoots in.
Marquis Desmarais seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Clooten takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Desmarais throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Clooten on the side of the head.
Desmarais swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Clooten on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Clooten shoots in for a takedown but Desmarais shows good takedown defense.
Marquis Desmarais has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Clooten.
Desmarais tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Clooten counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Desmarais!

Clooten is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Desmarais can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Clooten lands a big elbow.
Desmarais is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
