Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Captain Herlock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Spang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Captain Herlock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Spang!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spang avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Herlock moves into range and clinches up with Spang.
Herlock escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Spang shoots in looking for a takedown. Herlock tries to sprawl out of it but Spang keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Herlock manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Herlock doesn't manage to clinch there - Spang circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Spang.
The fight stays on the outside here - Herlock looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Herlock tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Spang paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Herlock feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Spang had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Herlock is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Spang Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Herlock's back instead.
Spang throwing wild punches that miss their target.
Spang is trying to stick to Herlock's back but Herlock is turning into Spang. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Spang's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Herlock.

Herlock is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Spang is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Spang working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Herlock doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Herlock manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Spang escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Herlock gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Herlock is pushing down on Spang's leg trying to pass to half guard. Spang is fighting to maintain full guard but Herlock has managed to sneak the leg through.
Spang works his way to full guard. Good work.
Herlock stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Spang swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Herlock loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Spang looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Herlock slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Spang has his foot on Herlock's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Herlock works his way back into a safe position though.
