Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gary Caps (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ted Coke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Coke has chosen Cocaine as his entrance music. Ted Coke has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gary Caps!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ted Coke!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Coke changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Caps looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Caps sneaks back into half guard.
Coke keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Coke trying to control from half guard but Caps is working away.
Coke trying to control from Caps's half guard. Caps has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Caps utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Coke tries to free his leg and advance position but Caps is retaining full guard.
Caps is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Coke pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Caps is keeping the position for now.
Coke trying to stand up but can't free himself from Caps's guard.

Caps has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Coke can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Coke really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Caps. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Caps is looking for a triangle but Coke pushes his legs off easily.

Caps tries for a takedown but Coke sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

and Coke counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Coke clinches up against the cage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Caps is rocked!


It looks like Gary Caps has been cut.
Coke will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Caps up against the cage.
Oh Caps is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Caps seems to have got his legs back now.

Coke turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Coke stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Caps takes one on the button.

Coke closes the distance and pushes Caps back into the cage.

Coke unloads a knee to the mid-section. Caps lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Coke breaks the clinch.

Coke fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Caps, pushing him back against the cage.

Coke pulls Caps into guard.
Coke looking to hit a scissor sweep but Caps is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Caps throws a big right hand that misses.
Caps wants to control from the top but Coke keeps moving.
Coke throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

Coke scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Coke drives through and clinches with Caps against the cage.

Coke decides to pull guard.
Coke is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Coke pushes Caps off and gets back to his feet.
Caps takes one to the chin there.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Caps has his takedown stuffed
enabling Coke to counter with a crisp jab.
Coke darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Coke has Caps up against the cage in a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Donk. Coke catches Caps right on the button with a cross.
Caps fails with the takedown
and Coke counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Coke instigates a clinch.

Coke pulls guard.
Ted Coke has got the better of the ground game so far.

Coke looking for a guillotine here but Caps defends easily.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Caps drops back, looking for a kneebar! Coke looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Coke looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Coke!

Coke has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Caps is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Coke lands a nice shot to the head.
Coke is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Coke misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Poor strikes thrown by Coke there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Coke is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Caps can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Coke has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Ted Coke hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Coke throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Caps stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Caps gets tackled into the cage by Coke. Coke maintains the clinch.

Coke escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Caps takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Coke has closed the distance and engaged Caps in a clinch.

Coke pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Coke, right into the meat.
Coke lands a right hook to the body.
Coke connects with a looping right hand.

Coke's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Coke lands with a shot to the body.
Coke uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Caps takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Coke connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Coke scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Ted Coke showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Coke lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Coke thuds his right hand into Caps's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

and Coke counters with a stiff right hand.
Caps closes the distance but Coke moves to the side
and Coke counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Coke cracks Caps with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Coke has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Caps to stand back up!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Coke counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Gary Caps is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Caps gets caught napping as Coke dives in and scores a takedown. Caps manages to retain guard.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Coke closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Caps's guard.

Caps is trying to drag Coke to the mat but Coke just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Gary Caps has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well Coke has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
