Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vlad Tapisht!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Drew Step!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Illya Tyunina and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Step shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Tapisht napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Step stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Step gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Tapisht counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tapisht stops Step from standing up.
Tapisht is in close to Step's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Tapisht trying to control but Step is working from the bottom.
Tapisht is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Tapisht slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Step wants to control but Tapisht postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Tapisht working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Tapisht looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Step wants to get back to his feet but Tapisht drags him back down.

Tapisht wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Step, who protects the arm well.

Tapisht thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tapisht is trying to get an arm triangle but Step is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Tapisht wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Step, who protects the arm well.
Tapisht wants to lay and pray for a moment but Step keeps working.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Step can't do much from the bottom here.
Step really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tapisht. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Step regains half guard.

Tapisht is working for a submission of some sort.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Tapisht is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Step has managed to free his arm - good work.
Step moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Tapisht trying to control the position from guard on top but Step is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Step is looking to stand up but Tapisht isn't so interested in that idea.
Step tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Tapisht wants to pass the guard but Step is keeping the position.
Tapisht prevents Step from getting back to his feet.
Step looks gassed!
Tapisht controlling from the top position.

Step wants to sweep but no luck.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Vlad Tapisht.

Tapisht decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Step is trying to maintain the position but Tapisht is very close to passing his half guard.
Tapisht is trying to control the action in half guard but Step is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Step wants to sweep but Tapisht has passed to side control!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Step is trying to get back to his feet.

Tapisht in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Step is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
