PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Andy Skeet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthew Hosking (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hosking is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by War Machine. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andy Skeet!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Matthew Hosking!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Donatello Bradman and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skeet will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Skeet misses with a wild combination.
Hosking shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Skeet as he jumps to the side.

Hosking throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Skeet was covering up waiting for the punch and Hosking finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Skeet is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Hosking trying to control the position from guard on top but Skeet is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Hosking thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Hosking throws a big right hand that misses.
Skeet utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Hosking decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Skeet uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hosking.

Hosking takes the fight into the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Skeet working hard to break the clinch.
Hosking changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Skeet fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Andy Skeet is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Skeet feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Hoskings jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Hosking is looking to clinch.
Skeet moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hosking will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Andy Skeet has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matthew Hosking.
Hosking shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Skeet defends it nicely.
Hosking doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Skeet bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Skeet swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hosking shoots in looking for a takedown but Skeet manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hosking's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Skeet throws out a leg kick but Hosking moves out of range and Skeet only half commits.
Skeet throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Hosking takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Skeet misses with a wild body shot.
Skeet lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hosking misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

No joy there for Skeet, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Skeet takes a swing at Hosking's ribcage but misses.

Hosking scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Hosking drops an elbow to the side of Skeet's head.

Hosking looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Hosking passes the guard and advances to mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andy Skeet dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Hosking shoots in looking for a takedown. Skeet tries to sprawl out of it but Hosking keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Skeet manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Skeet throws a nice looking combination but Hosking bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Skeet lands a jab.
Hosking thows a body shot but no joy.
Skeet punishes Hosking's body with a nice straight punch.
Hosking takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Skeet fails to land with a series of punches.
Skeet lands a jab-cross combination.
Skeet looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Hosking shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Skeet is not content to let Hosking control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hosking passes the guard and advances to mount!
Hosking working the ground and pound effectively.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hosking punching from mount but Skeet doing a good job of avoiding damage.

Hosking working for a guillotine from mount but Skeet is in no mood to give up.
Skeet is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Hosking cracks Skeet with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Skeet tries to hold on but Hosking pushes him away.
Hosking looking to control but Skeet is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Hosking scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Hosking is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Skeet can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Hosking thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Hosking misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Hosking is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Skeet can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Skeet avoids a series of strikes thrown by Hosking.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hosking lands a nice shot to the head.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hosking cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matthew Hosking showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Skeet's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hosking tries to clinch there but Skeet circles away.
Skeet stuffs the takedown attempt from Hosking. Hosking gets slowly back to his feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Hosking.
Andy Skeet is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Donk. Skeet catches Hosking right on the button with a cross.

Hosking moves in looking to clinch but Skeet pushes him off.

and Hosking counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Skeet thuds his right hand into Hosking's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hosking shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Skeet but Skeet pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Skeet lands a nice shot that snaps Hosking's head back.
Skeet moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Hosking tries to close the distance and clinch but Skeet swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
