The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sheilds misses the shot to the body.
Sheilds throws a body punch but Edgecombe moves out of range.
Edgecombe throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sheilds.

Edgecombe fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sheilds, pushing him back against the cage.

Sheilds tightens his grip and picks Edgecombe up, before dumping him to the ground. Edgecombe manages to land in guard.

Sheilds got a little sloppy there for a moment and Edgecombe has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sheilds has managed to get both his arms back between Edgecombe's legs - danger averted.

Sheilds drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Edgecombe manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Sheilds has Edgecombe in his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Edgecombe seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sheilds does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Edgecombe has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Sheilds to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Edgecombe is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Sheilds pulls down on the head and he's put Edgecombe to sleep! This one is all over!
