The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodrigues lands with a hook. Alves tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Alves avoids the head kick by Rodrigues .

Rodrigues tries to close the distance and clinch up but Alves swats him away and circles back towards the center.

A nice right hand lands inside from Alves.

Rodrigues pushes off an throws an elbow but Alves leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Rodrigues works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Alves kicks Rodrigues off and gets to his feet.
Rodrigues avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Rodrigues closes the distance and clinches.
Rodrigues creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Alves pushes Rodrigues back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Alves is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Rodrigues is looking to clinch but Alves is avoiding it.
Rodrigues shoots in but no luck this time.
Alves swats away the attempt to clinch by Rodrigues .
Alves throws a series of punches but Rodrigues moves out of range.
Alves shoots in but Rodrigues avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Bruno Rodrigues has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Danilo Alves.
