PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dweezil O Hearn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Piugnu Kopo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dweezil O Hearn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Piugnu Kopo!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Aleksandr Martynov and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Kopo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kopo fails with an attempt to clinch.
O Hearn changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kopo tries to avoid it but O Hearn manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kopo to the ground. Kopo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kopo throws a sloppy head kick and O Hearn moves out of range easily.
Kopo fails with an attempt to clinch.
O Hearn's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and O Hearn duly obliges.
O Hearn throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

O Hearn drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

O Hearn drops back looking for a leg! Kopo is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kopo manages to kick O Hearn off! O Hearn jumps back into Kopo's guard.
O Hearn will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kopo is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst O Hearn is controlling him.

O Hearn drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and O Hearn jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

O Hearn thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

O Hearn is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Kopo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with O Hearn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

O Hearn looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Kopo pushes O Hearn off looking to stand but O Hearn dives back in and keeps control.

O Hearn in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Kopo tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from O Hearn!
