Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Phil Ivey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Helio James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ivey comes to the cage accompanied by Friday. James has chosen Limp Bizkit Eat You Alive as his entrance music. Helio James acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Phil Ivey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Helio James!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Roosa Järviläinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ivey uses good head movement to avoid the hook from James.
Ivey misses with a low kick.
A good leg kick by James.
James misses with a jab, cross combination.
James takes a swing at Ivey's ribcage but misses.
Ivey pulls out of a head kick attempt.
James throws a hook to the side of Ivey's head but Ivey sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

The fight stays on the outside here - James looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Ivey pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces James back to the cage. Ivey follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.


It looks like Helio James has been cut.
James throws a chopping leg kick but Ivey manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
James's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and James duly obliges.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
James misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ivey lands a right hook to the body.
James takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

James looks to land a combination. Ivey sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Ivey swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Good leg kick by Ivey there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Helio James is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
James lands with an overhand left.
Ivey fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
James throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ivey ducks down and throws a hook to the body but James moves away.
James misses with a body shot.
James moves in looking to clinch but Ivey pushes him off.
Ivey is looking to wear down James with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Ivey crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from James - the referee stops the clock and Ivey gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says James. Ivey manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
James uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Ivey has time to react.
Ivey takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Ivey throws a right hand that James ducks under and follows up with a left that James also avoids with ease.

and Ivey counters with a nice body kick.
James stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Ivey takes a swing at James's ribcage but misses.
James avoids the body shot from Ivey.
James smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
James tries to clinch up but Ivey circles away and keeps his distance.
A looping hook to the body misses from Ivey. James does a little dance to reset his feet.

James throws the kick towards the body but Ivey avoids it.
James tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

James moves into the clinch successfully.
Ivey goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Ivey misses with a short punch on the inside.
James wants to get back to striking at distance but Ivey won't allow it.
Ivey can't find room to land a body shot as James controls the action.
James fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Ivey blocks an uppercut.
Ivey tries to throw a body punch but James avoids it by throwing Ivey back against the cage.
A right handed body shot lands from Ivey.
Ivey blocks a body shot from James.
James has had enough of the clinch but Ivey keeps him there for the moment.
James is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Ivey is keeping busy.
James presses Ivey against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Ivey makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Ivey scores with a shoulder strike.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

James breaks the clinch.
James tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ivey paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ivey walks into a jab.
James checks a leg kick.
James pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Ivey moves out of range of the strikes.
James closes the distance and lands a one-two.
James is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ivey.
James is looking to land body kicks.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

James takes a shot to the body in his stride.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Helio James will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Helio James's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


James takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
James misses with a leg kick
and Ivey connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Ivey fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. James looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Ivey tries to clinch up but James circles away and keeps his distance.
Ivey stuns James with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
This has been an exciting period of action!
James throws a low kick, looking for Ivey's leg but Ivey calmly moves out of range.

Helio James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ivey will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Ivey lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Ivey walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. James checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


James throws a lazy right hand but Ivey sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Ivey lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and James has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from James and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
James throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
James connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Ivey momentarily.
Ivey looks to score with a jab to the body but James is just out of range.

That kick from Ivey tenderised James's leg. James is trying to keep his angry face on.

Well Ivey has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
