Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shaun Shurk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rogerio Ribeirao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ribeirao is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Elite. Shaun Shurk could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Rogerio Ribeirao's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shurk scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Shaun Shurk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ribeirao manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Shurk on his heels. He'll look to pass Shurk's guard now, I'm sure.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Ribeirao wants to control from the top but Shurk keeps moving.

Ribeirao postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Shurk is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ribeirao, into his guard.

Shurk got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ribeirao has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Shurk has managed to get both his arms back between Ribeirao's legs - danger averted.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Shurk is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Ribeirao to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ribeirao shrugs it off.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That was a close round but I would say that Shaun Shurk will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Ribeirao is looking to clinch but Shurk is avoiding it.
