Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bruce Banner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Justin Hodges!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banner takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Banner with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Hodges to score with a decent uppercut.
Banner misses with a takedown
and Hodges counters with a nice uppercut.
Banner takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Banner steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hodges.
Hodges connects with a body shot that sends Banner's belly button to the back.
Hodges misses with a few strikes there.

and Hodges connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Hodges leaves Banner with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Hodges stalks Banner and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Banner's face. Banner staggers backwards, shaken.

Hodges is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Banner is pushing Hodges's head away, looking to escape. Hodges manages to hold on to the position though.

It looks like Bruce Banner has been cut.
Banner manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Hodges takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Hodges takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Hodges really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Banner. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Justin Hodges hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Hodges lands an overhand right.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Banner closes the distance and clinches up with Hodges, looking for a takedown. Banner pushes Hodges against the cage but Hodges circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Hodges stuffs the takedown.
Hodges lands a jab-cross combination.
Banner dives in and grabs Hodges's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hodges pushes down on Banner's head and hops out.
Banner has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hodges finds it's way round the side to connect with Banner's head.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Banner. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Hodges cracks Banner with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Hodges scores with a jab. Banner acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Banner avoids the body shot from Hodges.
Banner moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Hodges misses with the combination.

Banner on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Banner takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Banner uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hodges.
Hodges feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Banners jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

and Hodges counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Hodges manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Banner on his heels. He'll look to pass Banner's guard now, I'm sure.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hodges got a little sloppy there for a moment and Banner has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hodges has managed to get both his arms back between Banner's legs - danger averted.

Banner escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hodges gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hodges not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Justin Hodges showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Banner has his takedown stuffed

and Hodges counters with a nice double leg into side control. Banner won't be happy with that.
Banner is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Hodges has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Hodges looks up at the clock and then as Banner takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Hodges smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
You can see the frustration on Banner's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Hodges lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Banner down.
