Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Darek Borkowski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matt Ryan!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Felipe Paraventi and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ryan looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Ryan tries to free his leg and advance position but Borkowski is retaining full guard.
Ryan loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Ryan postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Ryan looking to pass the guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Ryan's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Borkowski looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Ryan is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Ryan passes Borkowski's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Ryan has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Well, if Ryan is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Borkowski is looking to escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ryan seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Matt Ryan.
Ryan shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Borkowski as he avoids it easily.
Borkowski swinging wildly here.
Borkowski lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Borkowski lands a really nice looking cross but Ryan seems unphased.
Ryan takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Borkowski tries to clinch but Ryan is having none of it.
Ryan's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Borkowski connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Ryan scrambles back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ryan fails with a takedown attempt.
Borkowski doesn't manage to clinch there - Ryan circles away.
Both fighters circling a little - Borkowski finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Ryan is looking to clinch but Borkowski is avoiding it.
Borkowski tests Ryan's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Borkowski has closed the distance and engaged Ryan in a clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A short right from Borkowski.
Ryan wants to break free but Borkowski has control.
Ryan is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Borkowski to keep the fight standing.
Darek Borkowski has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Ryan.
Ryan looks gassed!
A frustrated look appears on Borkowski's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Borkowski breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Ryan.
Borkowski wants to control but Ryan postures up.
Ryan moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Ryan decides to stand up, so the ref orders Borkowski to his feet.
Ryan shoots for a double leg takedown but Borkowski sprawls well. He's pushed Ryan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Borkowski darts in and clinches Ryan up against the cage.
Borkowski tries to stall but Ryan uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Borkowski is trying to break free.
Ryan has had enough of the clinch but Borkowski keeps him there for the moment.

Borkowski escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Ryan scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Ryan prevents Borkowski from escaping the position.
Ryan has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Ryan has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Borkowski is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Matt Ryan!
