PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Boulet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anderson Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Jonathan Boulet has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jonathan Boulet seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jonathan Boulet!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Anderson Williams!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boulet misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Williams shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Williams showed some decent athleticism there.
Boulet is not content to let Williams control the position.
Williams might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Boulet kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Boulet is looking to improve his position.
Boulet gets back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boulet throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Williams looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Boulet looking to hit a scissor sweep but Williams is one step ahead there.

Williams stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Boulet swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Boulet is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Boulet is looking for a sweep. Williams is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are battling for position here. Boulet manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Boulet working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Williams doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Williams manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Boulet is breathing heavily.
Williams sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Boulet's guard.
Boulet has a hand on Williams's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Williams takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Williams throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Boulet because Williams loaded up on that one.
Boulet sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Boulet misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Williams is looking to advance position but Boulet won't allow it.
Boulet is not content to let Williams control the position.
Boulet wants to control but Williams is keeping busy.
Boulet is trying to get back to full guard.
Williams has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Boulet is looking to get to half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Boulet avoids a series of strikes thrown by Williams.
Williams takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Boulet wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Williams.
Boulet keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Williams can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Boulet is looking to escape.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Williams tries to close the distance and clinch up but Boulet swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Williams gets caught flat footed, as Boulet shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Williams is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Williams looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Boulet wants to pass the guard but Williams is keeping the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Boulet accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Williams controls Boulet momentarily but Boulet frees himself.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Boulet scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Boulet is chipping away with strikes.
Williams tries to buck Boulet off but Boulet is having none of it.
Boulet trying to control the position but Williams is working away.

Boulet goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Williams rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Boulet's guard! Nice work there by Williams!

Boulet has his foot on Williams's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Williams works his way back into a safe position though.

Boulet manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Boulet has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Williams's face.

BOOM! Boulet connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Williams wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Boulet.
Boulet can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Williams is looking to escape.
Williams tries to hold on but Boulet pushes him away.

Boulet wants to finish this one by submission but Williams is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Boulet.

Boulet is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Williams is not content to let Boulet control the position.

Boulet wants to pass to mount but Williams is defending the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Williams manages to work his way to half guard, despite Boulet's best efforts.

Well Boulet has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
