Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kev Randle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Edson Santos!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Valeri Chadov and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos shoots for a takedown but Randle saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Randle tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Santos manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Santos gets tackled into the ropes by Randle. Randle maintains the clinch.
Randle tries a knee to the head but Santos blocks it.
Randle is pushing Santos up against the ropes, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Santos avoiding damage as Randle throws knees to the body.
Randle tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
The fighters are pressed against the ropes, as the pace of the fight slows.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Randle tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
With the fighters up against the ropes, Randle throws an elbow but misses.
Santos wants to take the fight to the mat but Randle manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Randle misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Randle is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Kev Randle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Edson Santos.
Randle tries to land knees in the clinch but Santos avoids the damage to the body.
Santos blocks a punch to the side of the head.
A nice right hand lands inside from Randle.
Randle misses with a hook to the ribs.
Randle is pushing Santos up against the ropes, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Randle misses with a punch on the inside.
Randle misses with a body punch.
Randle prevents a takedown attempt there.
Santos blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Santos successfully pulls guard.
Randle has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Randle wants to get up but he can't break Santos's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Randle trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Randle stands up and waves to Santos to follow him.
Randle is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Santos clinches up against the ropes.
Randle misses with a knee to the head.
Santos jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Randle walks away with a smile on his face. Santos gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Santos shoots in looking for a takedown. Randle tries to sprawl out of it but Santos keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Randle manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Randle tries to clinch there but Santos circles away.

Randle has managed to clinch.
Randle throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Santos blocks it with crossed arms.

Santos jumps guard and drags Randle to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Randle has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Santos is proving hard to escape from.

Santos pushes a forearm under Randle's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Randle is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Edson Santos!
Edson Santos decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
