Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garza throws a right and a left that Sheilds avoids nicely.
Garza with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Garza chopping away at his opponent's legs.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Sheilds checks a leg kick.
Rico Garza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Garza throws a right and a left that Sheilds avoids nicely.

Sheilds closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Garza's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Garza wants to stand and escape but Sheilds is having none of it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sheilds trying to control the position from guard on top but Garza is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Garza is working an open guard so Sheilds takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Sheilds looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Garza is breathing heavily.
Sheilds trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Sheilds makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Garza is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Sheilds dives into side control.

Sheilds stands up and beckons Garza to his feet.
Sheilds checks a leg kick.
Sheilds lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Garza circles away quickly and effectively.
Garza throws a series of punches but Sheilds moves out of range.
Garza scores with a three punch combo!

Sheilds looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Sheilds uses his free foot to push down on Garza's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Garza.
Sheilds trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Garza knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sheilds on the ground.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Garza has given up his back.

Garza is trying to get back to his feet but Sheilds has full control of the position and if anything, Garza has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Sheilds has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Garza is in real trouble here. Sheilds gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Garza is tapping out! Sheilds wins by rear naked choke!
