PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Rob Robizzle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rafal Kret (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Rob Robizzle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Rafal Kret!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Donald Grub and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kret tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Robizzle decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kret's guard.
Kret keeping full guard, as Robizzle tries to pass.
Robizzle trying to control the position from guard on top but Kret is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kret bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Robizzle's guard.

Kret is looking to work some ground and pound but Robizzle has wrist control.

Robizzle looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Robizzle really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Kret wants to pass the guard but Robizzle is keeping the position.
Robizzle not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kret stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Robizzle swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kret must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Robizzle keeps the fight on the outside.
A punch combination from Kret misses.

Robizzle looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Kret is trying to stand up here but Robizzle is controlling him well.

Robizzle is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kret defends it well.
Kret is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Kret wants to get back to full guard.
Robizzle is thwarting Kret's attempts to control the position.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Robizzle moves into full mount! Kret won't be happy about that!
Kret wants to hold on but Robizzle pushes him away.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rob Robizzle dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Kret is looking to clinch.

Kret drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Robizzle working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Kret has passed into half guard!
Robizzle keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Robizzle pulls Kret in to control the position.

Robizzle has his foot on Kret's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kret works his way back into a safe position though.

Kret slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Kret stands and throws Robizzle's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Kret is breathing heavily.
Robizzle is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Kret off and has taken his back!
Robizzle doesn't have the hooks in and Kret manages to turn into his guard.
Robizzle controls Kret momentarily but Kret frees himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Robizzle keeping moving, preventing Kret from controlling successfully.

Robizzle working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kret doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kret manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Robizzle keeping moving, preventing Kret from controlling successfully.
Robizzle will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Rafal Kret.
Kret gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Robizzle decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kret's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kret is working an open guard so Robizzle takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Robizzle misses with a two punch combination.

Robizzle drives through with a takedown into guard.

Robizzle is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Robizzle postures up.
Kret being controlled here, momentarily.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Rob Robizzle.

Robizzle closes the distance and clinches.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kret jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Robizzle walks away with a smile on his face. Kret gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Kret circles away from the clinch attempt.
Robizzle shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kret as he avoids it easily.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kret shoots in and bounces Robizzle off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Robizzle is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rob Robizzle dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Kret closes the distance but Robizzle moves to the side

and Robizzle counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Kret is looking to control Robizzle's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kret avoid being mounted?
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Kret controlling the position well.
Kret wants to get back to his feet.
Kret takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Robizzle frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Kret has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Kret's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Robizzle has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Robizzle is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Kret taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Robizzle.
