Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gwyn Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Jay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Gwyn Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jay Jay!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Daniel Bishop and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick by Jones misses

and Jay counters with a shoot takedown. Jones fights it but they end up in guard.
Jones on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jones tries to get out of the position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Jay trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Jones knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jay on the ground.
Jay engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Jay passes into half guard.
Jones is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Jones is holding on to half guard well.
Jay perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Jay lands with a punch from half guard.
Jay is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Jay is landing with some decent strikes but Jones is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Jay with a couple of short strikes.
Jay trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Jay scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Jones?

Jones holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Jay tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jay controlling the position easily from mount.
Jay misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Jay tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jay Jay wasn't active enough on the ground.
Jay throws a shot to the body.
A low kick from Jones is predictable there
enabling Jay to counter with a crisp jab.
Jones throws a leg kick but Jay checks it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jay misses with a straight right.
Jay connects with a looping right hand.
Gwyn Jones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A looping hook to the body misses from Jay. Jones does a little dance to reset his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Jay throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Jay shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jones pinned against the cage. Jones gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A decent looking cross lands there for Jay.
Jay throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Jones fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jay, pushing him back against the cage.
Jones looks to throw an elbow but misses.

Jones lands an elbow that stopped Jay in his tracks for a moment.


It looks like Jay Jay has been cut.
Jay dodges an elbow strike from Jones.
Jay managing to block the knees to the body from Jones.

Jones blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Jones throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Jones keeps control of Jay as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Jay wants a takedown.
Gwyn Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jay Jay.
Jones creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Jay's defenses.
Jay avoids the elbow strike from Jones, against the cage.
Jay tries to stall but Jones uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Jones misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Jay.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Jay works the jab nicely.
Some bone on bone action there as Jay checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Jay throws a body punch but Jones moves out of range.
Jones ducks under a wild hook from Jay.
Jones shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Jay scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Jones doesn't seem bothered though.
Jones takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Jones is looking to clinch but Jay is avoiding it.
Jones walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Jay checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Jones ducks under a wild hook from Jay.
Jones throws a body kick that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jay jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Jones, right into the meat.
Jones misses with a leg kick.

Jones has closed the distance and engaged Jay in a clinch.
Jones lands a damaging elbow.
Jay blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Jones looks to throw an elbow but misses.

Jay gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jay accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Jay passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Jay throws a strike aimed at the side of Jones's head but Jones avoids it well.
Jay is chipping away with strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jones takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Jay tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Jones prevents Jay from moving into mount.

You can see the frustration on Jones's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Jay tries to advance to mount but can't.
Jay trying to control the position but Jones is working away.
Jay moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Jay wants to control but Jones is keeping him busy.
Jay working the ground and pound but Jones is defending the strikes.
Jones is not content to let Jay control the position.
Jay throws an elbow but Jones slips to the side and avoids it well.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jay Jay comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Jay has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Jay Jay decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
