Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fedor Emelianenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauricio Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Fedor Mirinova and Valeri Chadov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua tries to clinch but Emelianenko moves away

and Emelianenko counters with a nice double leg into side control. Rua won't be happy with that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Emelianenko in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Rua is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

You can see the frustration on Rua's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Emelianenko has control of an arm but Rua manages to advance to Emelianenko's back!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Emelianenko breaks Rua's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Rua throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Fedor Emelianenko.

and Rua counters with a nice body kick.
Emelianenko is breathing heavily.
Rua lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

It looks like Fedor Emelianenko has been cut.

Rua gets the takedown into side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Rua thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Mauricio Rua seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Rua decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Emelianenko's guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Mauricio Rua wasn't active enough on the ground.

Rua drops Emelianenko with a beautiful combination! Emelianenko stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Rua is looking for the KO!
Emelianenko misses with a takedown

and Rua shoots in, scooping Emelianenko off his feet. Rua is holding his opponent over his shoulder. He slams Emelianenko to the mat and Emelianenko is in big trouble! Rua is landing strikes to his unconscious foe and the ref dives in to end the fight! Rua is celebrating with his corner and rightfully so.
