PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Buhawi Jack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Coogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rob Coogan!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Viktor Lagutenko and Dmitry Maklakov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jack throws out a loose jab but Coogan uses good head movement to avoid it.
Coogan moves out of range as Jack throws a body kick.
Jack pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Jack closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Coogan to the mat! Coogan manages to get full guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Coogan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jack is one step ahead there.
Jack stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Coogan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jack passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Jack goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Coogan rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Jack's guard! Nice work there by Coogan!

Jack is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Coogan defends well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jack can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Coogan controls the pace.

Coogan wants to control from the top but Jack keeps moving.

Jack is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Coogan is aware though and is defending well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jack is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Rob Coogan was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Jack ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Coogan closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jack to the mat! Jack manages to get full guard.

Coogan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jack has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Coogan has managed to get both his arms back between Jack's legs - danger averted.

Coogan is working to tighten is grip on Jack's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Jack has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Coogan is really squeezing tight and eventually Jack passes out! Coogan breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
