PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Veldrane Sengir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yevgeniy Petrovich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Veldrane Sengir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Yevgeniy Petrovich!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Arvi Lind and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sengir drives through with a takedown into Petrovich's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Sengir slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Petrovich should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Sengir drops back, looking for a kneebar! Petrovich looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Petrovich looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Petrovich!

Petrovich goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Sengir has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Petrovich but great work by Sengir.
Sengir remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Petrovich takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Petrovich is looking for a sweep.

Sengir working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Sengir tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Sengir tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Sengir happy to just control the position for now.
Petrovich parries the strikes from Sengir easily there. Sengir is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Petrovich to escape.

Sengir stands up.
Sengir digs a good body shot into Petrovich's ribs.
Sengir is looking to clinch.

Sengir is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Petrovich's half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Petrovich actively working from the bottom here.
Sengir takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Sengir's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Sengir is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Petrovich reverses the position - he's now on top in Sengir's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Petrovich wants to pass the guard but Sengir is keeping the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Sengir closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Petrovich to the mat! Petrovich manages to get full guard.
Sengir controlling from the top position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Petrovich working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sengir doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sengir manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Sengir decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Petrovich, up you get!

Petrovich is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Sengir is aware though and is defending well.

Sengir controls from within his opponent's guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Veldrane Sengir has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Petrovich shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Petrovich trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Sengir manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Veldrane Sengir overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Veldrane Sengir just wasn't active enough.
Petrovich shoots in for a takedown but Sengir shows good takedown defense.

Petrovich gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Sengir to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!

Petrovich actively working from the bottom here.

Petrovich is defending against the submission attempts here by Sengir.
Sengir seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Petrovich is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Sengir is tapping! Great win for Petrovich!
