PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Amadeus Astra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quan Raiden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Astra comes to the cage accompanied by Once in a Lifetime. The crowd seem to be enjoying Raiden's choice of entrance music: Boss Battle. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Raiden misses with a lunging right hand
and Astra counters with a right hand to the body.
Raiden gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Astra slips a jab from Raiden.
Astra checks a low kick from Raiden.
Raiden fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Astra is out of range.
Astra bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Raiden's head.
Astra lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Astra takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Raiden walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Astra checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Raiden's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Astra throws a looping overhand right but Raiden ducks down to avoid it.
Nice takedown defense from Raiden. No joy for Astra on that attempt.
Astra sizes up Raiden with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Raiden pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Raiden moves forwards but Astra connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Astra fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Raiden avoids it really well and circles away.

Astra throws a shot from downtown. Raiden moves away and avoids it.

Astra changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Raiden looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

and Raiden counters with a stiff right hand.
Raiden avoids the body shot from Astra.
Raiden misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Astra keeps the fight on the outside.
Astra throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Raiden.
Raiden cracks Astra with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Astra shoots in and drives through. Raiden sprawls well.
Astra tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Raiden was well out of range. Poor timing from Astra.

Astra misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Raiden throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Astra on the side of the head.
Raiden uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Astra.

Astra fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Raiden on the side of the head.
Astra looks to land a left hand but Raiden moved out of range nicely.

Astra scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Raiden throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Astra sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Astra connects with a right hand. Raiden shakes it off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Amadeus Astra will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Astra moves away from the strike by Raiden.

Astra closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Raiden to the mat! Raiden manages to get full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Astra had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Raiden defends it easily.

Astra pulls Raiden in close to his closed guard and prevents Raiden from doing any damage or advancing position.
Raiden has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Astra is proving hard to escape from.

Raiden is sitting in close to Astra's body. Astra has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Raiden is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Raiden is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Astra.

Amadeus Astra really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Popeye’s Spinach - 159 + 158 Proof Supps logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
