The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kawaguchi is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kunanbaev.

and Kawaguchi decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kunanbaev's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Kawaguchi postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Kunanbaev is looking for a triangle but Kawaguchi pushes his legs off easily.

Kunanbaev has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kawaguchi can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
