The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Pierce.

Hyneman changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pierce looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Pierce sneaks back into half guard.
Hyneman throwing shots but Pierce is blocking nicely.
Pierce flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Pierce is pressing down on Hyneman's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Hyneman got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pierce has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hyneman has managed to get both his arms back between Pierce's legs - danger averted.

Hyneman is looking to take a break and control but Pierce is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
