Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Astrud Rivera!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hammer lands a jab-cross combination.


It looks like Astrud Rivera has been cut.

Rivera closes the distance and clinches.
Hammer is looking to break free of the clinch but Rivera has double underhooks.
Hammer wants to break free but Rivera has control.

Rivera is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Hammer can't fight it off and eventually Rivera manages to take the fight to the floor. Hammer looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rivera breaks from Hammer's wrist control and lands an elbow.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rivera lands a big shot there that rocks Hammer but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Rivera tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Rivera tries to control but Hammer wriggling away.
Rivera looking to control and managing it successfully.
Rivera postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Hammer looks a forlorn figure.

Rivera forces the positional change into back control.
I really don't envy Hammer right now.
Rivera punishes Hammer with strikes from the back mount.
Rivera has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Hammer tries to break free.
Hammer looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Hammer has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
Hammer is keeping busy.

Rivera keeps control of the position as Hammer tries to break free.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A head kick from Rivera lands but Hammer takes it in his stride.
Hammer lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Hammer.
Hammer swings for the body but Rivera moves out of range.
Hammer misses with a combination
and Rivera counters with a slapping leg kick.
Hammer cracks Rivera with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Hammer lands a two punch combo.


Rivera is rocked!

Rivera is still on wobbly legs! Can Hammer finish him?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rivera has a takedown stuffed.

Rivera darts in and clinches Hammer up against the cage.
Rivera seems to have recovered his senses.
Hammer is trying to push Rivera away but Rivera has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Hammer swings wildly with an uppercut but Rivera uses good head movement to avoid it.

Rivera has Hammer pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Rivera pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Hammer tumbling to the mat - Rivera dives into Hammer's guard.
Rivera is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Hammer working for a triangle but Rivera defends it easily.
Rivera won't allow Hammer to get back to his feet.
Rivera stands and throws Hammer's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Rivera trying to control the position but Hammer is working away.

Rivera lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Hammer down.
Hammer strikes from the bottom but Rivera takes advantage and advances to full mount!
Hammer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rivera on the ground.

Hammer can't escape the position.
Astrud Rivera has got the better of the ground game so far.
