Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Maverick Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Cooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones comes to the cage accompanied by Little Secrets - Passion Pit. Daniel Cooper has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Maverick Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daniel Cooper!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cooper circles away from the clinch attempt.
Cooper looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Jones lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Cooper has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Cooper and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Maverick Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones darts in trying to clinch

and Cooper counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cooper.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones looking to control.
Jones looking for a sweep. Not yet Jones, not yet.
Cooper throws an elbow that misses. Jones uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Cooper's guard. Nice move by Jones!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Jones wants to control from the top but Cooper keeps moving.
Jones postures up.
Jones has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Cooper is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cooper can do anything to dispel that myth.
Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cooper swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jones trying to control but Cooper is working from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Maverick Jones just wasn't active enough.
Jones tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Jones stuffs the takedown.
Cooper fails with a takedown attempt.
Jones throws a sloppy head kick and Cooper moves out of range easily.

Jones cracks Cooper with an open hand slap.

Jones closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Jones landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Cooper tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Jones avoids it.

Jones has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Cooper regains guard immediately.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Cooper is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Jones drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jones jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Jones passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Jones is looking to take a break and control but Cooper is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones scores with a couple of short elbows.

Jones decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Jones closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Jones stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Cooper to get to his feet.

and Cooper counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jones won't be happy with that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jones is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Cooper's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Jones is pressing down on Cooper's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jones tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Cooper wanted to stand there but Jones had control of the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Jones cracks Cooper with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Cooper is not content to let Jones control the position.
Jones tries to move to mount but Cooper blocks the move with his legs.

Jones stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Cooper is breathing heavily.
Jones misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Maverick Jones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Jones shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Cooper counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Jones!
Jones wants to hold on but Cooper pushes him away.
Cooper misses with a head shot.
Jones is trying to escape the mount.
Jones wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Cooper.

Cooper sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Jones is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Cooper prevents Jones from getting the reversal.
Jones manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Jones makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Jones.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cooper passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Cooper throws an elbow but Jones slips to the side and avoids it well.
Maverick Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Jones is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jones has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cooper is working away from the top position though.

Jones is looking to improve his position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cooper is looking to pass Jones's guard but actually Jones recovers to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


No luck with that takedown attempt from Jones.
Cooper stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cooper wants it to stay on the feet.

Jones is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Cooper gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Jones jumps guard but Cooper stands there with Jones around his waist. Jones gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Jones is trying to drag Cooper to the mat but Cooper just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Cooper prevents a takedown attempt there.
Cooper can't find room to land a body shot as Jones controls the action.
Jones is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Cooper to keep the fight standing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cooper is looking to take this one to the mat.
Jones is struggling to control the position.
Jones misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Cooper.
Jones goes for a takedown attempt but Cooper pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Jones doesn't manage to clinch there - Cooper circles away.

Cooper has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Jones.
Jones connects with an inside leg kick.

Jones looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Cooper is looking for a sweep. Jones is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Jones wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cooper keeps working.

Jones is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Jones is working for a submission of some sort.

And that's the end of the fight!
Maverick Jones showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Jones has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
