Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shadow Deathgrip (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Mahan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yasuomi Hirokawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mahan gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Deathgrip.
Deathgrip really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mahan is defended easily by Deathgrip.
Mahan tries to clinch but Deathgrip moves away

and Deathgrip counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Mahan's guard now.

Deathgrip is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Deathgrip drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Deathgrip jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mahan can do anything to dispel that myth.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Deathgrip is working for a submission of some sort.

Mahan tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Deathgrip trying to mount his opponent but Mahan defends it.
Mahan flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Mahan moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Deathgrip thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Deathgrip stands and throws Mahan's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Mahan is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Deathgrip has hold of Mahan's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Mahan tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Deathgrip cranks the arm and Mahan screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Mahan, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
