Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kris Kringle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kris Kringle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Roy Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kringle gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Nelson to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Kringle is trying to keep Nelson in close.
Nelson is looking to work some ground and pound but Kringle has wrist control.
Nelson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Nelson wants to get up but he can't break Kringle's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Nelson trying to move into half guard but instead Kringle has managed to sweep!

Roy Nelson has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Kringle moves out of range of the body kick.
Kringle avoids a punch combination nicely.
Nelson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kringle swivels and escapes.

Nelson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Nelson stands up from Kringle's guard - Nelson perhaps looking for a knockout.

and Kringle counters with a shoot takedown. Nelson fights it but they end up in guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Nelson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Kringle closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kringle lands in his opponent's guard.

Kringle postures up in Nelson's guard and throws a big left but Nelson blocks it.

Kringle works over Nelson with some ground and pound from guard.
Kringle cracks Nelson with a solid left hand.
Nelson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Kringle.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kringle trying to control but Nelson is working from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kringle is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kris Kringle will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kringle uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Nelson.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Nelson.

Nelson is staying active underneath Kringle, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Kringle is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Nelson has managed to free his arm - good work.
Kringle is looking to stall here but Nelson recovers full guard.
Kringle is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Kringle tries to free his leg and advance position but Nelson is retaining full guard.
Nelson tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Kringle drops back, looking for a kneebar! Nelson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Nelson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Nelson!
Nelson wants to control but Kringle is keeping him busy.

Nelson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Kringle sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Kringle is trying to stand back up but Nelson is controlling him

Nelson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Nelson gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Kringle manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Nelson on his heels. He'll look to pass Nelson's guard now, I'm sure.

Kringle throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Nelson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Kringle throws a big right hand that misses.
Nelson avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Kringle throws a strike but Nelson rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Kringle preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Nelson trying to stand up but can't free himself from Kringle's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kringle thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Nelson stands up and waves to Kringle to follow him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kris Kringle dominated that second round.
That's time! Kringle's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!


Kringle stalks Nelson and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Nelson's face. Nelson staggers backwards, shaken.

Nelson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Nelson looking to control but instead Kringle has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Kringle has a hand on Nelson's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Nelson takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Nelson looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Nelson blocks Kringle's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

Nelson swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Kringle is now in Nelson's guard. A big mistake from Nelson there, giving up the dominant position!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kringle accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Nelson is looking for a triangle but Kringle pushes his legs off easily.
Nelson wants to stand up but Kringle is controlling him.
Kringle throws a big elbow that misses.

Kringle wants to stand and escape but instead Nelson has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Kringle can't keep his opponent in guard - Nelson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Kringle will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Kris Kringle is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Kringle trying to control but Nelson is working from the bottom.

Kringle decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Nelson, up you get!
Nelson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nelson misses with a takedown attempt - Kringle sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Roy Nelson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kris Kringle.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kringle, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
