Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walker Patton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Roy Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patton misses with a wild body shot.

Nelson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Patton is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Patton gets full guard.
Nelson wants to stand and escape but instead Patton has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Nelson has a closed guard, preventing Patton from standing up.
Nelson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Patton throws a big elbow that misses.
Patton working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Patton pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nelson is keeping the position for now.
Patton lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Nelson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Nelson shoots in but Patton avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Nelson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Patton pinned against the cage. Patton gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Nelson closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Patton's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nelson won't allow Patton to get back to his feet.

Nelson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Patton but Patton pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Nelson blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Nelson shoots for a double leg takedown but Patton sprawls well. He's pushed Nelson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Walker Patton will probably get the nod.

Patton moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Nelson doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Patton counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

and Nelson counters with a takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nelson decides to stand back up. Nelson steps back and let's Patton get back to his feet.
Nelson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Patton sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Nelson somewhat.
Nelson tries to score with a low kick but Patton moves his leg out of the way.
Patton throws a head kick but Nelson moves out of range.
Nelson motions for Patton to come forward. Nelson throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nelson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Patton as he jumps to the side.

Nelson is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Patton is keeping busy.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Walker Patton.
Nelson fails with the takedown.
Patton avoids a punch combination nicely.
Patton tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Nelson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Roy Nelson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Patton throws a left and a right that both miss
and Nelson counters with a left and a right that stings Patton.
Nelson shoots in for a takedown but Patton shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Nelson seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Patton lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Nelson shoots in looking for a takedown but Patton manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Nelson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Nelson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Nelson shoots for a takedown but Patton saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Patton throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Patton fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Nelson manages to avoid it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Patton tries to close the distance and clinch but Nelson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Walker Patton showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Patton has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
