PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shane Walsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck A Luck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shane Walsh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chuck A Luck!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A Luck shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Walsh's guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
A Luck stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Walsh swivels though and keeps the full guard.
A Luck throws an elbow that misses. Walsh uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in A Luck's guard. Nice move by Walsh!
A Luck not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Walsh avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
A Luck is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Walsh throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as A Luck works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Walsh is stalling in the full guard.
A Luck is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Walsh is controlling him.

A Luck looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

A Luck has his foot on Walsh's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Walsh works his way back into a safe position though.

Walsh's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
A Luck tries to roll over but Walsh keeps him under control.

Walsh perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Walsh looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks A Luck with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Walsh with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Shane Walsh has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Walsh wants to clinch but A Luck slips to the side

and A Luck counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
A Luck looks gassed!
A Luck wants to lay and pray for a moment but Walsh keeps working.
Walsh is pressing down on A Luck's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Walsh looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Chuck A Luck will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Walsh drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Walsh controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Walsh seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down A Luck for as long as he can get away with.
Walsh tries to free his leg and advance position but A Luck is retaining full guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Walsh works a leg free and moves into half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Shane Walsh wasn't doing enough on the ground.

A Luck shoots in and bounces Walsh off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Walsh has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Walsh preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Walsh has his hands on A Luck's head, controlling the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Shane Walsh.

We're going to have a standup here because Shane Walsh wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Walsh is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

and A Luck counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Walsh is pulling down on A Luck's head to control his posture.
A Luck wants to control from the top but Walsh keeps moving.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
A Luck stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Walsh swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Chuck A Luck.
Walsh shoots in but A Luck avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Walsh doesn't manage to clinch there - A Luck circles away.

A Luck looking to score a takedown here. Walsh is defending well but A Luck drives through and ends up in Walsh's guard.

A Luck looking to sit in guard and control but Walsh gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Walsh is standing up over A Luck. A Luck looks to escape but Walsh dives into side control.
A Luck takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
A Luck tries to buck Walsh off but Walsh is having none of it.

A Luck is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
