PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Malcolm Mulkey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimbo Slice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Malcolm Mulkey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jimbo Slice!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mulkey lands with a thumping leg kick.
Mulkey throws a sloppy head kick and Slice moves out of range easily.

Slice fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mulkey, pushing him back against the cage.
Slice wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Mulkey has him pressed against the cage.
Slice is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Mulkey jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Slice walks away with a smile on his face. Mulkey gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Slice throws a right and a left that both miss.
Slice rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mulkey moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Mulkey avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Slice wants to clinch
and Mulkey counters with a one-two to the body.
Slice stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Slice wants it to stay on the feet.
Mulkey needs to keep his hands up - Slice had a free shot at his head there.
Slice dodges the punch combination from Mulkey.

Mulkey clinches up against the cage.

Mulkey is trying to pull guard but Slice turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Slice wants to clinch up but Mulkey keeps it at a distance.
Slice scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Slice has closed the distance and engaged Mulkey in a clinch.
Slice lands with a short punch from the clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Slice tries to break the clinch but Mulkey is controlling the position.
Mulkey goes for a takedown in the clinch but Slice prevents it.
Mulkey blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Mulkey tries to pull guard but Slice forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Slice lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Slice slowing the pace effectively.
Slice tries to circle away but Mulkey has him pinned against the cage.

Slice's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Slice clinches up against the cage.
Slice swings away with an uppercut that misses.
A nice right hand lands inside from Slice.

Mulkey pulls guard effortlessly.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Slice throws a strike but Mulkey rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Mulkey advances to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Slice pushes Mulkey off looking to stand but Mulkey dives back in and keeps control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Slice can do anything to dispel that myth.
Slice is staying active underneath Mulkey, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Mulkey prevents Slice from standing back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Slice regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Mulkey.

Slice has his feet on Mulkey's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Slice looks gassed!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Slice tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mulkey swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Slice will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Mulkey fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Slice avoids it really well and circles away.
Slice lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Slice gets tackled into the cage by Mulkey. Mulkey maintains the clinch.
Mulkey tries to break the clinch but Slice is controlling the position.
Slice looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Mulkey is trying to break the clinch but Slice has him pressed against the cage.
Slice tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Mulkey's elbow.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mulkey has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Slice uses from the top position.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Mulkey stalks Slice and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Slice's face. Slice staggers backwards, shaken.
Slice tries to close the distance and clinch but Mulkey swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Slice lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mulkey circles away quickly and effectively.

Slice misses with the combination.

and Mulkey counters with a big head kick but Slice shrugs it off.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A looping hook to the body misses from Mulkey. Slice does a little dance to reset his feet.

Slice takes a jab right on the kisser.
Mulkey connects with a leg kick. Slice looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

and Mulkey counters with a good, hard body kick but Slice shrugs it off.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Slice shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Mulkey eats them both and turns towards Slice to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Mulkey tries to land knees in the clinch but Slice avoids the damage to the body.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Slice is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Malcolm Mulkey has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jimbo Slice is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Jimbo Slice comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Slice has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
