Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jesse Bowes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cody Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cody Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bowes has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bowes is defended easily by Johnson.
Bowes looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Johnson closes the distance and clinches.
Johnson goes for a takedown attempt but Bowes pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Johnson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Bowes wants to get back to his feet but Johnson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Bowes has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Johnson off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Bowes wants the takedown. Johnson is fighting it off but Bowes persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Johnson's guard against the cage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That was a close round but I would say that Jesse Bowes will probably get the nod.

Bowes has Johnson pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Bowes pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Johnson tumbling to the mat - Bowes dives into Johnson's guard.
