PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Maximus Desangre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roman Owens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Desangre comes into the arena with . blaring out of the sound system. Owens comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Disturbed- Inside the Fire kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Roman Owens will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Maximus Desangre!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roman Owens!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Owens fails in his attempt to clinch.
Owens explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Owens tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Owens looks to land a body kick but Desangre moved away.
Desangre gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Owens wants to clinch up but Desangre keeps it at a distance.
No joy there for Owens, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Desangre shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Desangre showed some decent athleticism there.
Owens keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Desangre blocks the strikes from Owens.
Desangre misses with a head shot. Owens uses the momentum to regain guard.
Desangre throwing strikes from guard but Owens blocks nicely.
Owens preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Owens uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Owens connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Owens finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Desangre fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Owens throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

It looks like Maximus Desangre has been cut.

Owens gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Owens avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Owens wants to stand and escape but Desangre is having none of it.
Desangre tries to free his leg and advance position but Owens is retaining full guard.

Desangre has gone for a leg lock! Owens slips out almost immediately though and dives into Desangre's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Desangre is breathing heavily.

Desangre tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Desangre is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Owens wants to stand but Desangre is controlling his posture from full guard.
Owens must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Owens gets to his feet. Desangre looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Desangre throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Owens's waist but Owens gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Desangre off to one side.
Owens lands with a nice combination. Desangre backs away looking to recover.
Owens rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Desangre moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Owens throws a sloppy head kick and Desangre moves out of range easily.
Desangre shoots in for a takedown but Owens shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Maximus Desangre. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Owens tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Desangre drops back looking for a leg! Owens is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Owens manages to kick Desangre off! Desangre jumps back into Owens's guard.
Desangre makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Desangre is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Owens looks calm but he's in trouble here. Desangre gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Owens is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Desangre lets go of the hold and Owens can pop his arm back in it's socket.
