Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mark Marx (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gregory Steele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gregory Steele will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 8 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Marx!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gregory Steele!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good work by Steele as he checks the leg kick.
Marx throws a half hearted mid kick.
Steele swings away with a body shot that misses
and Marx counters with a straight right hand.
Steele misses with a takedown attempt - Marx sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Steele fails with an attempt to clinch.
Marx takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Steele lands a two punch combo.
Steele shoots in looking for a takedown. Marx tries to sprawl out of it but Steele keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Marx manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Marx keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Mark Marx has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gregory Steele.
Steele tries to clinch but Marx moves away
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Marx throws a front kick that sends Steele stumbling back into the cage.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Steele enables Marx to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Steele manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Marx postures up in Steele's guard and throws a big left but Steele blocks it.

Steele bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Marx's guard.
Steele stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Marx swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mark Marx wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Steele tries to clinch up but Marx circles away and keeps his distance.
Marx throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Marx drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Steele tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Marx wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Marx controls the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Steele is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Marx content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Marx seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Gregory Steele is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Marx throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Steele stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

and Marx counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

Marx looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Steele with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Marx seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Steele for as long as he can get away with.

We're going to have a standup here because Mark Marx wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
